PARSIPPANY, NJ - June 6, 2006: Avis Rent A Car System, LLC today announced a new pilot program that will give customers the ability to rent a mobility scooter and have it waiting in the trunk of their next rental vehicle or delivered to the customer's location. Mobility scooters are four-wheeled, lightweight, battery-operated transportable units
that are well suited for travelers up to 250lbs. The program rolls out at two of the nation's most frequented leisure and convention destinations -- Las Vegas and Orlando. Avis is the first rental car company to offer mobility scooters combined with vehicle rentals.
Mobility scooters are most popular with older travelers and those with disabilities and are the latest addition to Avis Access(R), the company's suite of products for travelers with disabilities. Avis Access was launched in 2003 and it debuted as the nation's first comprehensive program for travelers with disabilities. Other components of Avis Access are transfer boards, hand controls, spinner knobs, panoramic mirrors and swivel seats.
"Many people need to use mobility scooters in their everyday activities," said Scott Deaver, executive vice president of marketing for Avis Budget Car Rental, LLC, parent company of Avis. "By offering them a fast and easy way to get them when they are traveling, we're able to enhance their whole travel experience. This new service reinforces our commitment to help make travel more accessible for everyone."

August Avis will begin offering Where2™--a Global Positioning System (GPS) navigation system built by Garmin, a leader in GPS navigation. Where2 will be rolled out to locations throughout the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico following the August launch. Pricing is $9.95 per day or $49.95 per week. Where2 is fully portable and can be used in any Avis vehicle.
Based on Garmin's popular new StreetPilot c550, Where2 high-bright display offers Avis customers an array of navigation features, including:
Simple user interface. Even motorists who have never experienced GPS navigation will quickly master the device's intuitive menus on the bright and easy-to-read touch screen display.
Real-time traffic information. Where2 notifies drivers of upcoming traffic snarls, construction tie-ups, and weather delays (where available) and automatically suggests timesaving routes.
Multiple language and gender voice guidance with turn-by-turn voice-prompted directions. Where2 has a text-to-speech feature available in 20 text languages with 36 voice options that speaks the name of the next turn ("turn right on Main Street") instead of simply calling out distances ("turn right in 500 feet"). This is particularly useful on busy and unfamiliar roadways.
Three-dimensional maps. Pre-loaded road maps of the entire U.S., Canada and Puerto Rico include addresses and nearly six million points of interest--including hotels, restaurants, gas stations, ATMs, and tourist attractions.
High sensitivity GPS receiver. Where2 acquires a GPS signal quickly and is capable of maintaining a signal even in "urban canyons" created by city skyscrapers.
